Story Midway

The Detroit Lions made history this season, but not in the right direction. They became the only team in the entire NFL history to finish the season 0-16. While this record was not a team fighting for, as did some hope to fans because it means that the team would have to go for a major overhaul in the season low. Firstly, president Matt Millen fired at midseason. Coach Rod Marinelli knew he was next and of course, the Lions cut him loose at the end of the season. Other teams who dropped their coaches at the end of the season as the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos have already chosen replacements, and the Lions seem to be closer to elect their next leader also. Schwartz has already reported back for a second interview with the Lions, which means a meeting with Lions owner William Clay Ford Sr. If the Lions took Schwartz, that would be a gesture that the team was looking for someone to focus on defense as is currently the defensive coordinator with the Tennessee Titans. His experience in the defensive going all the way back to his playing days at Georgetown University where he took the field as a linebacker. He started coaching in 1989 as a graduate assistant coach University of Maryland. He took the same position with the University of Minnesota in 1990. His first coaching job came in 1991 as a position coach secondary Central North Carolina. He began his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns before they moved to Baltimore as a scout and an assistant defensive. After the move, he began coaching the outside linebackers for the Ravens, in addition to being his assistant / quality control coach. He came to the Titans as their linebackers coach before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2001. Since then, the Titans have been impressive defensive statistics, landing in the league standings.
Todd Bowles is almost like story of a player as he is a coach. After the defensive play of Temple University, played for eight seasons in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers. It was with the Redskins when they won the Super Bowl after the 1987 season. His first NFL job game it was not long after leaving football as it became part of the personnel department of Green Bay Packers in 1995. He went to college ranks in 1997 as defensive coordinator / secondary coach at Morehouse College. The following year he was the defensive coordinator / defensive backs coach at Grambling State. In 2000, he became the defensive backs coach of the New York Jets, leading the team to an impressive step in the defense. From there, he became the coach of the nickel defensive package with the Cleveland Browns before being promoted to secondary coach. His next position came with the Dallas Cowboys as their coach high school. He stayed until the 2008 season, where he was part of the impressive back story of the Miami Dolphins as assistant head coach / trainer high school.
