What high school courses do I need to work on Walt Disney's animation / art studies?
I'm going into grade 9 and I really want get a job at Walt Disney studios, but I do not know what courses to take. I wanted to be able to do some CGI and drawing. This would largely be a grateful if someone could shed some light on the situation for me.
Frankly, the major studios like Disney, Pixar and others never go to see works of art of any person without an education, first. These sites often hire interns and entry-level artists right out of colleges and universities. These people known in academic circles, first by showing in student exhibitions and competitions for college students. You have to understand that receives requests employment of hundreds if not thousands of candidates each year. And of these, studies that only need to fill a very small handful of positions, if any. Directors art will not be sifting through hundreds of portfolios. They do not have the time. What it will do is display relevant educational history, grades, then the professional level experience so they can narrow the field to a manageable number, such as less than a dozen. Trust me, this selection process will never reach to a point where they might consider a high school student or graduate. To reach this level, a degree or advanced degree is a minimum requirement. Not only in the large studies, but in other studies and design agencies across the country. Get a solid background and skill set that traditional art forms. Work your way in the digital tools of the trade, starting with 2D and 3D software, and eventually in animation tools. It is too early to start planning for college courses that will be needed. With the ultimate goal of working for someone like Disney in mind, now, focus on that will make outstanding prepwork in academia. Here some data that can help.
